My doctor says I need to lose weight. I started at 192lbs. I decided to try keto as a last ditch effort to lose some weight. I’ve tried portion control, paleo, and vegetarianism to no avail. But!!!! In the first two weeks I’ve lost 8lbs. Down to 184lbs. I know in the back of my brain that this initial weight loss is just water, but to see some progress – any progress – is enough to keep me wanting to continue down this path.
The downside is that I’ve been having trouble making my macros and calorie count. I’ve been maintaining the ratio of carbs to protein to fats, but my 1200cal usually tops off somewhere at around 700 a day, and I’m sure that’s not terribly healthy. I’m trying to eat more, but I can’t eat a ton of I have no appetite. I’ll just feel sick. I’ve been drinking A TON of water, which is good, as well as some electrolyte drinks. I’ll have to re-examine what I’m eating to see if I can find another way to balance things out.
My ultimate goal is to lose 50lbs by Christmas. I’m told by other ketonians that its not an unreasonable goal, so its worth a shot. Wish me luck!
